LinkedIn is one of the most popular platforms for job seekers to find and apply for jobs. With millions of job postings from companies worldwide, LinkedIn offers a seamless experience for job hunters. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to apply for jobs on LinkedIn using your resume.
To start your job search, log in to your LinkedIn account. If you don't have an account yet, you'll need to sign up for one by providing your name, email, and password.
After signing in, you'll be taken to your LinkedIn homepage. To begin exploring job opportunities, select the "Jobs" section from the navigation menu at the top of the screen. This area is specifically designed for job listings and career openings.
In the Jobs section, you'll see a search bar at the top. Here's how to search for job opportunities:
• Job Title: Enter the job title you are looking for, such as "Data Scientist," "Marketing Manager," or "Software Engineer".
Machine Learning Engineer: Known for developing and implementing machine learning models as well as implementing Machine Learning solutions. They entail refinements of the algorithms, incorporating models in production settings and tuning of the models.
Skill: You can also search for jobs based on your skills, like "Python," "Project Management," or "Graphic Design".
Company: If you have a specific company in mind, you can type its name to see if it has any job openings.
Once you've entered your preferred job title, skill, or company, click on the search icon or press "Enter" to view the job listings.
LinkedIn has many filters to help you refine your job search. You can narrow your results by location, experience level, posting date, and company size. Using these filters will help you find career opportunities that match your skills and interests.
Search for jobs that interest you. Click on each job title to view additional details, including job descriptions, qualifications, and company information. If the job sounds like a good fit, it’s time to apply.
Once you've found a job you're interested in, there are two main methods to apply on LinkedIn:
Method 1: Easy Apply
The "Easy Apply" option allows you to apply directly through LinkedIn. Here's how to use it:
• Click the "Easy Apply" button on the job listing.
• A pop-up window will appear, asking for some basic information like your phone number and email.
• You will be prompted to upload your resume. Make sure it is updated and tailored to the job you're applying for.
• After uploading your resume, you may be asked a few additional questions by the employer.
• Review your application details, and when you're ready, click "Submit Application".
The Easy Apply option is quick and convenient, especially when applying to multiple jobs. It eliminates the need to leave LinkedIn to submit your application.
Method 2: Apply on the Company Website
Some companies prefer that you apply directly on their website. Here's how to do it:
• You will be redirected to the company's career page, where you must complete the application process.
• Upload your resume and any other required documents. Again, if you've used ROHub to optimize your resume according to the job description, this is your chance to showcase it.
Most companies also require a cover letter. If you've generated one using ROHub, attach it to your application to make a strong impression.
Fill out any additional information the company requests, such as references or answers to specific questions.
Review your application and then submit it.
Applying on the company's website may take more time than the Easy Apply option. Still, it allows you to interact directly with the company's application system and sometimes gives you more room to personalize your application.
If a job listing does not allow you to upload a cover letter or you want to make a more direct connection, consider reaching out to the company's HR or Talent Acquisition team on LinkedIn. Here's how to do it:
Find the Right Contact:
• Go to the company's LinkedIn page.
• Click on the "People" tab to see a list of employees.
• Use filters or search by job title to find someone in HR, recruitment, or talent acquisition.
Send a Connection Request:
• Once you've identified the right contact, send them a connection request.
• Include a personalized note introducing yourself and explaining your interest in the job position.
Message the Recruiter:
• If the connection request is accepted, you can send a direct message.
• In your message, briefly introduce yourself, mention the job you applied for, and explain why you're an excellent fit for the position.
• Attach your cover letter and resume, especially if you couldn't upload the cover letter during the initial application.
